The Faculty of Islamic Studies at Al-Makassed University in Beirut organized, on Saturday 11/1/2025, a dialogue seminar entitled “The Societal Role of Faculties of Islamic Studies in Lebanon” at the university campus in Al-Bashoura. The seminar witnessed distinguished participation from: His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Ali Al-Ghazawi, Mufti of the Bekaa, Dr. Sheikh Ali Al-Tawil, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia at the Islamic University of Beirut, Professor Dr. Bassam Abdel Hamid, Dean of the Imam Al-Ouzai Faculty of Islamic Studies, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Zoubi, Head of the Islamic Studies Program at the Institute of Oriental Arts at Saint Joseph University in Beirut.
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Hilal Darwish, in the presence of Professor Hassan Ghaziri, President of Al-Makassed University in Beirut, in addition to a large gathering of professors, researchers, students and interested parties.
The interventions addressed the importance of coordination between the faculties of Islamic studies in Lebanon and their institutes, and stressed the need to develop curricula to keep pace with the needs of our Lebanese society, which contributes to graduating competent scholars capable of facing the challenges of the era, while maintaining a balance between authenticity and modernity, with moderation and openness.
